Always Be Growing

Message from the Farm:

This past season has been full of meaningful conversations with fellow farmers, all centered around building partnerships that strengthen our local economy, add value to neighboring farms, and expand the reach of locally produced food. One exciting collaboration is with Red Lantern Ranch in Alexandria, where Jonathan and Miriam Kilpatrick have built an impressive broiler chicken operation. We’re thrilled to come alongside them to help enhance and grow what they’ve already established. We’re also energized by our partnership with OtterCare Community Initiative, where we’re working to bring more local food options into a brick-and-mortar setting while beginning to invest in food education and broader community impact. These partnerships represent more than shared work—they’re steps toward a more connected, resilient, and locally rooted food system.

Get Outside. Get Connected.

We’ve been sharing some incredible moments with Rod Spidahl as he walks through the art of tapping trees and harvesting pure maple syrup — and it’s more than just a skill… it’s a connection to the land, to tradition, and to something real.

If you’ve been watching our YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook posts and thinking “I’d love to try that someday”… this is your sign.

  • Step outside.
  • Learn the rhythms of nature.
  • Find a mentor. Or become one!

Whether it’s maple syrup, gardening, foraging, or simply slowing down long enough to observe — there’s a whole world waiting just beyond your door.

Don’t just scroll it… live it.

Need a little guidance getting started?

You don’t have to figure it out alone. If you’re looking for a mentor or a place to plug in, we’d love to help connect you.

Here, in and around Fergus Falls:

  • Rod Spidahl — gardener, maple syrup harvester, and all-around outdoorsman — contact him for possible mentorship opportunities

  • Sower’s Harvest Community Events — hands-on learning like their upcoming Weed Less Garden Workshop🌱 https://www.sowersharvestfarm.com/events
  • More options to come!

🌱Sower’s Harvest Farm — Why Knowing Your Farmer Matters

Most people don’t know how their food is grown—and that disconnect matters more than we realize.

In this exclusive interview, Cody from Sower’s Harvest Farm shares how he’s building a chemical-free, low/no-till operation from the ground up, why soil health is a long game, and how transparency is central to everything they do.

If you’ve ever wondered what it actually looks like to grow food differently—and why knowing your farmer matters—this is worth your time.
