Our eggs are still the same - MORE than "Organic"

At Acres of Asher, we’ve always believed that true quality starts with how we care for our land and animals—not with a government label. After much thought, we’ve decided to step away from USDA Organic certification for our eggs. This change doesn’t alter how we farm or the integrity of our eggs in any way. In fact, it reflects our commitment to remain better than organic.

Recent updates to USDA organic regulations now favor large-scale, stationary operations—requiring more indoor space for birds that rarely see pasture. For small, pasture-based farms like ours, complying would mean tripling the size of our mobile chicken trailers, an impractical move that doesn’t benefit the hens or the land. Our flocks thrive outdoors, grazing on fresh pasture and forages, exactly as nature intended.

While the “organic” label once stood for small, sustainable farming, it’s now often shaped by corporate influence and industrial models. Our mission has never been about meeting bureaucratic definitions—it’s about producing eggs the way God designed, with integrity, transparency, and stewardship. We grow much of our own feed, rotate our hens on lush pasture, and invite our community to visit, ask questions, and see it all firsthand.

Acres of Eden to Acres of Asher

After receiving a cease-and-desist from Eden Foods, our family began the search for a new name that still captured the heart of our farm. The answer came through an unexpected blessing — a premature calf named Asher who, against all odds, survived! Later, we learned “Asher” means joyful and blessed and refers to a tribe of Israel known for their abundant crops. Though our name of our farm has changed, our mission hasn’t: we remain the same devoted, faith-driven farmers committed to nurturing land, animals, and community with honesty, care, and gratitude.
