Why Regenerative &
Circular Farming

At Acres of Asher, we believe that farming should not only produce food — it should restore, replenish, and regenerate. Our approach combines regenerative agriculture and circular farming principles to create a thriving ecosystem where soil, water, animals, and communities work together in balance.

What Is Circular Farming?

Circular farming is a system that mimics nature’s own cycles. It aims to eliminate waste and make full use of local resources by reusing, recycling, and regenerating materials within our farm and, our hope is, our community. Rather than importing synthetic inputs from far away, we buy or produce locally — feed, compost, manure — all circulate back into our local economy. It’s farming that keeps value in the community and nutrients in the soil.

What Is Regenerative Farming?

Regenerative farming goes beyond sustainability — it doesn’t just maintain ecosystems, it improves them. It rebuilds soil health, restores biodiversity, and strengthens climate resilience through practices that work with natural systems, not against them. From no-till cropping to rotational grazing, regenerative agriculture enhances every layer of life beneath and above the ground.

Understanding the
Spectrum of Regeneration

Not all “regenerative” claims are created equal. A conventional farmer who no-tills may consider themselves regenerative — and they’re on the journey. Others, like permaculture or holistic management farms, operate at the deepest levels of regeneration. True regenerative agriculture requires discernment: looking beyond buzzwords to the depth of ecological restoration and the community connections a farm creates. At Acres of Asher, we’re committed to authenticity — not just doing “less harm,” but actively working to heal the land.

Core Principles

Regenerative and circular farming are more than just methods — they are philosophies rooted in respect for natural systems and human communities. Here’s how they work together to create lasting impact:

  • Soil Health: Practices like cover cropping, minimal tillage, and rotational grazing increase organic matter, improve structure, and enhance nutrient cycling — building living soil that feeds future generations.

  • Biodiversity: By planting diverse crops and integrating natural habitats, we foster rich ecosystems that control pests naturally, improve pollination, and sustain wildlife.

  • Water Stewardship: Techniques like contour farming and cover cropping reduce erosion and runoff, allowing more water to infiltrate and recharge the soil.

  • Climate Resilience: Both regenerative and circular models sequester carbon, minimize waste, and reduce reliance on fossil-fuel-based inputs — helping to cool the soil and strengthen food systems.

  • Circular Economy: We close the loop — reusing composted manure, crop residues, and local inputs to minimize waste and dependency on external resources. Every output becomes someone else’s input.

  • Community Vitality: Circular farming keeps money and nutrients local — supporting neighboring producers, craftspeople, and consumers. Together, we grow a more resilient rural economy.

Our Soil. Our Feed. Our Animals - Your Guaranteed Food Quality.

At Acres of Asher, regenerative and circular farming aren’t abstract ideals — they are daily practices that shape how we care for the land, our animals, and our neighbors. Every seed planted, every animal raised, every meal shared is part of a cycle that nourishes life — from soil to soul.
